The direct answer: useful episode notes answer two questions — what is the core conversation, and which minutes would a listener replay. The chunking unit is a topic turn, not a fixed ten-minute multiple; the description states concrete takeaways, never “we talked about”.

Episode note structure
- First sentence: the core conversation (who, about what, what came out of it).
- Chapters: 3-6 segments split at topic turns, each stating what the listener gets there.
- Timestamps: taken from the finished audio, per segment, to the minute and second.
Writing the description
- State concrete takeaways: “three reusable pricing frameworks” beats “we talked about pricing”.
- Name the guest's specific role and a representative experience (confirmed by the guest).
- Preview one contested point or counter-intuitive conclusion — only if it is real.
Boundary
Guest quotes carried into the notes keep their meaning; personal details the guest has not confirmed stay out. Sending the notes framework to the guest before recording avoids rework later.
