GEO GUIDES

Practical GEO guides

Write alternative text from the image descriptions you supply: concise, information-equivalent, and free of what the surrounding text already says. Nothing is described that is not in the image, no identity or emotion is guessed, and decorative images get an empty alt. The guides in this section are free to read, with no expiry.

Writing Alt Text: Making Images Seen

Good alt text describes the image's informational function, not its appearance. Functional description, empty alt for decoration, long description for complex figures — accessibility and search in one pass.
